Opis: Tomas Edvard Lorens je neobican i kompleksan covek. Bio je heroj, šarlatan i sadista. Prošao je put slave stecene u pustinji, a zatim zašao u anonimnost kao obican vojnik pod drugim imenom. Prica pocinje smrcu Lorensa u nesreci na motociklu u Londonu, kada je imao 47 godina. Zatim nas vraca u prošlost, njegovu mladost.
